How we use AI

AI helps with your lessons. Here you read what AI does, what a person does and what we keep.

Who does what?

  • What AI does

AI writes a first version of each lesson and makes the voices and pictures. AI is also your partner in practice conversations and gives practice feedback.

  • What a person does

The partner teacher reads every lesson and approves it. You never see a lesson without approval.

  • What AI never decides

AI does not decide your level, your marks or what you may use. The level test and the quiz have fixed answers.

Practising with AI

Before your first practice conversation you see that you talk with AI, not with a person. An AI label is always visible during the conversation. We keep no sound, only the text of the conversation. We keep that text for one hundred and eighty days.

Labels

What AI makes gets a label. For example: Voice made with AI, Illustration made with AI or Automatically translated.

Feedback from AI is practice feedback: a hint, not a mark.

Which models?

We use models from Google (Gemini) through Google Cloud. Text and audio for the lessons are processed in the European Union.

Live talking with AI is not possible yet.

When it comes, we ask for your permission first. The sound then goes through servers in the United States. The EU rules for data outside Europe then apply.

Spotted a mistake?

AI can make mistakes. If you see something that is wrong, report it in the lesson or through contact. The partner teacher looks at it.

Spelling

We do not have an automatic spelling check with a word list yet. A spelling mistake in a lesson can still slip through.
